Mini Lighter for Charcoal — Usage & Safety Guide
1) Common Uses
- Lighting incense/oud charcoal discs (quick-light or small natural pieces).
- Igniting small shisha/Hookah charcoal.
- Starting paper/kindling for a larger fire.
- Light melting/sealing of incense sticks/threads (with care).
2) Before You Start
- Check the lighter: stable flame, button works.
- Clear the area of flammables (perfumes, tissues, cartons).
- Prepare a metal tongs and a non-flammable surface (metal tray/charcoal stone).
- Ensure good ventilation (open window/extractor).
3) Lighting Steps (by charcoal type)
A) Quick-Light Charcoal Discs
- Hold the disc with metal tongs.
- Bring the flame to the edge for 3–5 seconds until it crackles/sparks.
- Wait 30–60 seconds until most of the disc turns light grey.
- Place on a charcoal holder/tray and add incense.
B) Small Natural Charcoal
- Apply flame to one corner for 10–20 seconds.
- Rotate with tongs and heat other sides until you see a steady red glow.
- Move to a holder and encourage ignition with gentle air from a distance (don’t blow close).
Note: A mini lighter is best for small pieces. For larger pieces, use a torch flame or electric charcoal heater.
4) While Using
- Handle charcoal only with metal tongs.
- Keep the lighter upright; avoid long tilts to prevent overheating.
- If the flame shrinks/flickers, rest the lighter for a few seconds.
5) Important Safety
- Do not use near perfumes, gas, or alcohol.
- Keep away from children (18+ recommended).
- Never light on wood, fabric, or other flammable surfaces.
- Maintain good airflow to avoid smoke/CO buildup.
- After use: let charcoal cool completely or extinguish with sand/water carefully.
6) Lighter Care
- Refilling (Butane): Turn off; flip the lighter upside down; press the butane nozzle into the valve for 2–5 seconds. Let it rest 2–3 minutes before use.
- Nozzle Cleaning: Use a small brush or compressed air to remove dust/ash.
- Flame Adjustment: Use the screw wheel at the base—raise slowly; don’t over-increase.
- Flint (if applicable): Replace with the same type per the side cap instructions.
7) Troubleshooting
- No flame: Check fuel, refill, clean nozzle.
- Weak/unstable flame: Increase flame slightly, allow to cool, ensure quality butane.
- Gas smell: Stop immediately, ventilate, check for leaks; replace if needed.
8) Do / Don’t
Do
- Use light gloves if needed.
- Keep charcoal on a metal/stone holder.
- Store the lighter in a dry, shaded place.
Don’t
- Touch hot charcoal directly.
- Refill near open flame.
- Keep the lighter running more than 10–15 seconds continuously—give it a short rest.
9) Storage & Transport
- Keep away from heat/sun (e.g., hot car).
- Store with gas canisters in a sealed, upright container.
- Follow airline/courier rules for lighters and butane.
